Meet the Owner

Ana Olivarez-Levinson, owner of VoicesVoces is a professional Independent Contractor in Spanish Medical Interpreting. She acquired her certification from the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) in 2015. She is proficient in English and Spanish.
Ana’s bicultural background has allowed her to integrate cultural competency into her interpreter work when navigating the role of message converter to cultural clarifier.
Ana was born in Los Angeles, California to Mexican parents and spent her early childhood living in Mexico where she attended elementary school. As a result, she has sensitivity, understanding and respect for the immigrant experience. Attending school in both the U.S. and Mexico provided her the base for acquiring the grammar and reading skills necessary to navigate the two worlds of bilingualism and biculturalism. Her interpreting journey began in childhood when she was needed to interpret for her parents at medical or school appointments.
Prior to becoming a medical interpreter Ana worked as a Clinical Social Worker with the Latino community primarily serving non-profit community, city, and county medical health agencies. She entered the medical interpreting field in 2013. She regularly received assignments at UCSF Medical center and UCSF Benioff Children Hospital Mission Bay in San Francisco, California which were highlights in her early training experience.
Since then, Ana has worked in a variety of settings from medical to mental health, educational, social service, personal injury, and worker compensation cases. She has the skills in managing different modes of Interpreting from consecutive, simultaneous to sight translation.
“I am glad to have found the career with roots that began in my childhood.” - Ana Olivarez-Levinson
